Supporting Local Nonprofits Through the Power of Community

The Community Helping Community campaign brings local residents, businesses, and organizations together to support charitable causes throughout the Albemarle region.

Seventeen community members will participate in a friendly fundraising campaign to raise donations for six randomly selected local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. The initiative is coordinated through the Albemarle Area United Way and culminates with a special community event on November 14, 2026.

Each participant has a fundraising goal of $2,000 in "bail money," with all proceeds benefiting local nonprofits that serve residents throughout our community.

How It Works

Nonprofit Registration

Local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations interested in participating must notify the Albemarle Area United Way by October 15, 2026 to be included in the selection drawing.

Fundraising Campaign

From October 1 through November 14, 2026, selected participants will be "arrested" and challenged to raise donations toward their bail amount. Friends, family members, businesses, and community supporters can contribute to help participants reach their fundraising goals.

Impact

Every dollar raised stays local and supports nonprofit organizations that make a difference in the lives of residents throughout Pasquotank County.
