Albemarle Area United Way announced a record-breaking investment of $401,106 to support more than 20 partner agencies and community organizations across the region. Fueled by a historic 2020 campaign, the funding will help strengthen local programs and provide critical support for residents, including relief efforts related to COVID-19 and Tropical Storm Isaias.

Albemarle Area United Way hosted its inaugural Keel Club Philanthropy Awards Dinner on November 7, honoring Bruce and Anna Biggs for their exceptional generosity and commitment to the community. Held at the Carolina Center, the evening also featured the presentation of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine—the highest civilian honor in North Carolina—to Bruce Biggs in recognition of his outstanding service and leadership.

This special addition, generously provided by Publix Super Markets, offers a simple way for neighbors of all ages to discover new stories, exchange favorite books, and enjoy the power of literacy right here in the Albemarle Area.

Join Albemarle Area United Way for the 2018 Awards & Campaign Kickoff Luncheon featuring guest speaker Dr. Karrie G. Dixon, Interim Chancellor of Elizabeth City State University. The event celebrates community impact through the presentation of the Spirit of Giving, Partner Agency of the Year, and Spirit of Community awards while launching the next United Way campaign to support programs and services across the region.

Albemarle Area United Way’s inaugural Bocce, Beer & Bites brought hundreds of community members to Waterfront Park for a day of friendly competition, local food, craft beer, and philanthropy. The event exceeded expectations, expanding from 32 to 46 teams and raising more than $17,000 to support United Way partner agencies and programs serving communities across the region.
