Albemarle Area United Way Celebrates Growing Keel Club
Bill Blake Named Executive Director
Elizabeth City, NC – On Thursday, March 1st the Albemarle Area United Way will have much to celebrate. The Board of Directors are pleased to host an evening social at Montero’s to thank all of the current campaign year Keel Club members, many of whom are new or have rejoined after a lapse. In addition, Bill Blake will be recognized as the permanent Executive Director of the organization.
“I’m so pleased to see the positive momentum created by these leadership givers,” said Bill Blake, Executive Director for the 13 county wide regional United Way. “These individuals understand that change happens best when people unite and sacrifice for a common goal that is bigger than themselves. The event will be fully sponsored so that every dollar donated can remain allocated for programs and we feel this is a small way for us to thank our Keel Club members and encourage them to grow their ranks.”
“We are thrilled to announce that Bill has accepted our offer as full time Executive Director,” said Brian White, Chairman of the Albemarle Area United Way Board of Directors. “He has done an outstanding job since joining our organization five months ago in an interim capacity. We couldn't be happier that Bill is taking on the reins to lead daily operations as we work to fulfill our mission of improving residents’ lives in rural northeastern North Carolina.”
In addition to initiating several new programs including, Small Business United, Blake has organized a new signature fundraising event, "Bocce, Beer, Bites" and has helped grow the Keel Club. Recently he accepted the award for "Best Non-Profit" from the Elizabeth City Chamber of Commerce at their annual Dinner Meeting.
